William Stead

William Thomas Stead (1849-1912) was an English journalist (during the First and Second Peace Conference in The Hague). He was a good friend of Andrew Carnegie. Stead was in favor of peace and a ”Supreme Court among the nations.” He conducted negotiations on behalf of Carnegie in the Netherlands, concerning the establishment of the Peace Palace. Stead died on the Titanic, he was on his way to the US for a peace conference at the Carnegie Hall, NY.
