Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) was an Indian politician. He became one of the leading figures in India’s struggle for independence. Gandhi was one of the founders of the modern state of India and an advocate of active non-violence as a means of revolution. He also campaigned for reconciliation between Hindus and Muslims in India. In 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated. To this day, Gandhi is a role model for people seeking peaceful solutions to conflicts.
