Aletta Jacobs (1854-1929) was the first university graduate, female Dutch physician and feminist. Jacobs was a Dutch representative during the First Feminist Wave. She stood up for women’s suffrage. During the First World War she fought for peace both in the Netherlands and abroad. In 1915, she organised a Peace Conference, bringing together women from twelve countries to discuss how world leaders could be encouraged to end bloodshed and start peace talks instead.
