Albert Schweitzer

Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) was a Franco-German physician, theologian, philosopher, musician and medical missionary. Schweitzer was well known for his medical work as a missionary doctor that he undertook in Africa from 1913 onwards. In 1952, Schweitzer received the Nobel Peace Prize and in 1955 he was made an honorary member of the Order of Merit. Many consider Schweitzer to be the symbol of charity and ethical humanity.
