The painting in monochrome colors depicts the “Glorification of Peace”: The Goddess of Peace sits on her throne en she is surrounded by allegories and virtues. Beneath her feet can be seen Mars, the god of war. In doing so, she prevents the War from rising again. The painting is actually a design for a goblin which was never completed due to the artist’s untimely death.
