PULL YOUR SOCKS UP! Wear this colourful tribute to a great peace hero: Alfred Nobel. With each step that you take, make sure he gives you strength and inspiration. Dare to differ and be the change you wish to see in this world.

Chemist Alfred Nobel (1833-1896) invented dynamite for the purpose of mining, it made him extraordinary wealthy, but unfortunately this was because his creation was also used for warfare. Inspired by his close friend Bertha von Suttner, 19th century’s most famous female pacifist, Alfred Nobel regretted his invention profoundly. As he discovered that newspapers even referred to him as ‘the merchant of death’, he wished to purify his name and decided to use his fortune to award those who take an important step towards peace. Bertha von Suttner was the first woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905.

The design of the socks is based on the interior design of the Peace Palace, especially the beautiful patterns in the marble floors. The socks feature images of Alfred Nobel as well as an inspiring quote that should inspire the sock carrier to make his or her own step towards peace.
