Peace Palace

Romania

Romania donated a round bronze plaque with a portrait of Romanian politician and well-known diplomat Nicolae Titulescu (1882-1941). Titulescu is remembered as a national hero in Romania and respected worldwide for his constant dedication to advocating freedom for his country and peace in Europe.
The official unveiling of the bench was also marked by a new inscription with an extract from a speech Titulescu delivered in Bratislava in 1937: “[…] only when law shines like a rising sun in the soul of all people, like a guideline, like a categorical imperative, like obedience being perceived as organised freedom, only then will mankind be saved, because it is in the peace created by legal order that man can fulfil his destiny […].”
