Peace Palace

France

The large, wall-sized painting is titled Pax. The painting depicts a peaceful scene with a family in a rural setting and cattle in the foreground. Eugène Chigot, artist and pacifist, exhibited the painting at the 1910 Salon in Paris. It was subsequently donated to the Peace Palace by France in 1914, and the wall-sized painting now adorns one of the Peace Palace’s historic rooms.
