Chile

Chile has donated a bronze sculpture group to the Peace Palace. The sculpture is titled “Le spectre de la guerre,” or the specter of war. Whereas other parts of the garden mainly show how beautiful peace is and how important it is to preserve it, this sculpture shows the horrors of war and death. The central female figure with cloak symbolizes death, around her dead bodies are shown, the victims of war. The sculpture is a continuous warning of war and shows the importance of keeping the peace.
