Carnegie Wateler Vredesprijs 2014

Last Thursday former UN representative Lakhdar Brahimi received the Carnegie Wateler Peace Prize 2014 out of the hands of Dr. Bernard Bot, chairman of the Carnegie Foundation. The Carnegie Foundation has awarded this peace prize to Lakhdar Brahimi for his many efforts as an international mediator, supported by his expertise in peace negotiations and reconstruction in conflict zones.

The award ceremony with speeches of Brahimi and Bot was alternated with music from the opera Rodelinda (Händel) performed by solists Charlotte Munnik and Niels Berentsen and the ensemble Concerto Valiante. During the ceremony a short film was shown stressing the importance of Brahimi’s work as a UN representative for the peace process.
