Language: English In June 1889 Andrew Carnegie’s classic essay ‘The Gospel of Wealth’ was published in the North American Review. In this famous essay Carnegie conveyed his message to the world that those of great means should redistribute their wealth during their lifetime in a responsible and thoughtful manner to the benefit of society. In 1904 he himself donated no less than 1.5 million dollars for the building of the Peace Palace. His essay is regarded as a foundational document in the field of philanthropy. To date, his message continues to inspire leaders and philanthropists around the world. |
