Letters from a French soldier (1914-1918). An anthology.
Recently a Dutch couple found a stack of letters from a soldier that served in the French army during the first worldwar, in a French farm.
These letters, of Reymond Molle and his wife Emma form an intimate record of his life during the Great war, her life on the farm and their anticipation of the war's end. They wrote to each other several times a week about their hopes and desperation, they tried to dispel their worries, provided each other with helpful advices and confirmed their believe and love for one another. Even though they were physically apart, they tried to remain closed by writing.
This special collection of letters gives an almost tangible impression of how life was torn apart by a war that already early on was considered senseless. A number of letters and postcards were selected for this touching anthology.
The Dutch version of this book is also available in our webshop.
