Past: Princess Beatrix present at celebration 30th anniversary Child Rights

Looking back: Her Majesty Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands shall be present in the Peace Palace in the Hague the 15th of November, at the annual theme day of the group “Expertgroep Jeugdrechters”, that consists of expert judges sitting in a juvenile court. The afternoon programme is dedicated to the celebration of 30 years Child Rights.

During the theme day, there is a moment’s thought given to the history, the present role and the future of the magistrate in a juvenile court. Furthermore, the significance of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, for laws concerning minors will be discussed.

Convention on the Rights of the Child
In November 1989 the Convention on the Rights of the Child was accepted by the General Assembly of the United Nations. The treaty gives starting points and obligations that make sure that children can safely grow up and can develop themselves optimally.

Princess Beatrix attends presentations about law concerning minors and the Convention on the Rights of the Child and contiguously will speech about judges and magistrates sitting in a juvenile court, scientists and other involving parties.
