Library and Academy
The Peace Palace Library specializes in professional literature on public and private international law, comparative law, and case law from all parts of the world. Over the past century, the library has grown to become one of the most prestigious libraries in its discipline and is consulted by jurists, scholars and students from all over the world. The collection also holds publications on international politics, the history of diplomacy and the peace movement. The library’s most precious possessions are its old prints of works by Hugo Grotius and Erasmus, famous thinkers from the 16th and 17th century who stood at the cradle of peace philosophy and the development of international law.
The Hague Academy
The Hague Academy of International Law was founded in 1923 and is based on the grounds of the Peace Palace. Every summer, professors from all over the world teach courses in public and private international law. The summer courses attract young academics and professionals of all nationalities, who are preparing to start a career in the world of diplomacy or international law.
