To mark International Women’s Day 2018, there was be a special edition of HagueTalks @The Peace Palace on March 8. With this event the role and contribution of women to international peace and security were highlighted, while addressing the challenges and opportunities in ensuring a gender sensitive approach to peacekeeping. HagueTalks is a series of events during which inspiring speakers shortly present their innovative and refreshing ideas on specific topics of peace and justice, during which dialogues and discussions with the public are encouraged.

- Ameerah Haq – Former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Field Support.
- Vice-Admiral Mark Mellett – Chief of Defence of Ireland.
- Major-General M.H. Wijnen – Deputy Chief of Defence, Netherlands.
- Captain Deirdre Carbery – Peacekeeper and former-Gender Advisor of the Irish Defence Force’ United Nations Training School.
- Commander Ella van den Heuvel – Gender and Security expert, Netherlands.
HagueTalks @The Peace Palace
HagueTalks is a series of events during which innovative and refreshing perspectives on issues of peace and justice are presented by inspiring speakers. Their lectures are short, as the concept is to foster dialogues and discussions with the audience. By cooperating with the Carnegie Foundation, owner of the Peace Palace, a series of inspiring HagueTalks can be held at the Peace Palace: the international icon of peace and justice. In this way, the important perspectives are placed on a more global stage. Being the icon of peace and justice, the Peace Palace brings together different parties to facilitate dialogues that contribute to progress to a more peaceful world.
This edition of HagueTalks is organised in cooperation with the Embassy of Ireland in The Netherlands, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Just Peace and the Carnegie Foundation – Peace Palace.
