Conference 9. December, 100 years Nobel Peace Prize; Tobias Asser

2011 marks the 100th anniversary of the receipt of the Nobel Peace Prize by the Dutch lawyer, Mr. Tobias Asser. Asser was the first, and until now the only, Dutch citizen to be honoured with this prestigious prize. This achievement was commemorated during a special conference held in the Peace Palace.

The Hague Institute for Global Justice is founded to strengthen the scientific infrastructure in The Hague, in the fields of Peace, Justice, Security and Sustainability.

The Carnegie Foundation is building a facility in front of the palace, close to the main entrance, where a broad public can find information on the Peace Palace and the institutions it houses.
